당연한 접속 폭주.
지난 911 사태 때의 CNN을 보는 듯 하다.
하지만 이런 사태에서 역으로 포털의 미디어 영향력 강화를 가늠할 수 있다. 이젠
로딩이 잘 되는 몇몇 개별 언론사닷컴 사이트의 경우, 트래픽 대처 능력 보다는 오히려 핫이슈 발생 시 사람들의 서핑권에서 밀려난 사이트로 비춰지는 건 왜일까?
# 이런 사태에 대한 대처 방안 몇 가지
1. 메인 페이지 미니마이즈 (minimize)
: 꼭 필요한 것만 남긴다.
뉴스 포털에는 유저의 다양한 니드를 반영하는 다양한 요소가 들어가 있다. 하지만 이렇게 유저의 소비 니드가 하나의 이슈에 집중되는 비상사태에서는 긴급히 사이트의 구성을 미니마이즈하여, 사람들의 관심이 집중되는 헤드라인 관련 뉴스만 제공하는 임시 페이지를 구성한다.
오마이뉴스의 홈페이지
: 스크롤이 길었던 홈페이지에서 다른 요소들을 내리고 탄핵 중심으로 임시 메인 페이지를 재구성하고 있다.
2. 이미지 요소 삭제
: 사진/이미지 요소는 가급적 모두 내리고, 텍스트로 헤드라인과 내용을 제공한다.
조선닷컴의 메인 페이지
: 이미지 요소를 모두 빼고 텍스트만으로 메인 페이지를 구성하고 있다.
3. DB 커넥션을 줄인다.
-홈페이지에서 CMS 요소를 빼고, 단순 HTML 페이지로 제공한다.
-DB와 연동되는 서비스 부분을 막거나 제한한다.
오마이뉴스에서는 몰려드는 트래픽을 감당하기 위해 뉴스에 붙는 독자의견 리스트를 버튼으로 막았다. 다음에서는 총선 관련 뉴스에 100자 의견을 막았다. 관련 뉴스 등 DB로 움직이는 네비게이션 요소도 이럴 때는 빼 주는 것이 나을 것이다.
※ '없어도 괜찮지만 붙여서 더 좋은 서비스들'은 이런 비상사태 땐 임시 퇴출
4. 시스템 차원의 대처
-이런 사태는 어제부터 이미 예견된 것. 911처럼 급작스러운 상황은 모르겠지만, 이렇게 예견할 수 있는 사태라면 미리 시스템(서버/네트워크) 단에서 이런 상황에 대해 준비하고 비상사태 모드로 스탠바이 했었어야 겠지. 이런 점에서 다음 달 있을 총선은 각 업체의 트래픽 대처 능력을 테스트 할 수 있는 또 다른 기회.
어떤 접근 방식이든 여하튼 '신속'하게 대처하는 것이 핵심이다.
트래픽 폭주, 이건 전쟁이거든~!!

그런데......다 쓰고 보니
실은 이런 시스템적 대처보다는
웹이라는 인터랙티브한 공간에서 지금 이 시점의 국민의 정서를
'미디어'라는 것을 표방하는 사이트들이 어떤 전략을 가지고 어떤 입장에서 어떤 식으로 수용해 낼 지
이게 더 근본적인 문제인 듯 하군요.
그런 면에서 Daum Only의 발언 입장과 수위, 네이버가 보여 줄 관련 인터페이스들이 몹씨도 궁금해 지는 중.
어떻게들 하시려나...관심가지고 지켜봐야지.
(이런 황당한 국면에 이런 걸 확인하고 있는 걸 보면, 나도 확실히 병이 중한듯...직업병!)

Comments 뉴스 사이트의 재미난 점은 이렇게 페이지뷰가 메가톤급 뉴스때문에 늘어나면 다시 줄지 않는다는 것이지요. 자주 오지 않는 오늘과 같은 메가톤급의 기회를 누가 살리느냐에 따라 페이지뷰와 업계순위를 바꿀수 있을 것입니다. 이런 호재는 일년에 한두번정도 있을까 말까 하니까요.
오전 오후내내 여러 사이트들을 돌아봤는데, 불행히도 별로 주목을 받을만한 뉴스 사이트는 없는 것 같군요. 유진님이 말씀하신 여러 대처법들은 재해 예방 차원이 아니라 사운을 걸고 타이밍을 맞춰야 하는 전략상의 문제일 듯 싶습니다. 언론사는 그렇다쳐도 포털들의 준비자세는 너무 안이하네요(그들도 몰랐겠죠 설마 이렇게가지 될지는). 제대로된 토론장 하나 찾아보질 못했습니다.
참고로 9.11테러 났을때 네이버뉴스에서 특집 페이지 만드는데 일주일 걸렸습니다. 규모와 사세가 수십배가 된 지금 얼마나 빨리 특집페이지가 나오는지 카운트나 해봐야겠습니다.
