바비 맥퍼린과도 스노우쇼에 연이어 실망했던 내 감각들이
일제히 멋지다고 손을 들어 환호한 공연.

그 집중력, 열정, 재능, 밸런스.

아무 것도 아끼지 않는 남자는 여섯 개의 기타 줄 위에 자신의 모든 것을 던졌고
그것이 그의 음악에 심장을 요동치게 하는 강렬한 생명력을 불어넣는다.

그의 내부엔 지금 이것보다 더 많은 힘이 남아 있지만,
그 모든 쓰여지지 않는 에너지는 방만하게 딴 전 피우지 않고 팽팽히 긴장한 채 최전선에서 스탠바이 하고 있다.
폭발적으로 쏟아내어질 한 순간을 기다리며.

깊은 눈의 여자는 자신의 자리를 잃지 않고
단호하면서도 사려깊은 태도로 남자의 정열을 어루만진다.

하지만 클라이맥스로 다가가는 순간,
여자는 남자를 바라보던 시선을 거두고 자기 속으로 토네이도 처럼 파고들어
남자의 힘에 지지 않는 강렬한 에너지를 발산하며 음악 속에서 열정의 혼연일체를 이룬다.

남자는 뜨겁지만 압도해 버리지 않고
여자는 독자적이지만 차갑지 않다.

한 남자와 한 여자가 만들 수 있는 완벽한 관계의 앙상블...

때론 예술의 결과물만큼이나
자신의 예술 앞에 선 예술가의 태도가 하나의 감동적인 작품으로 다가오는데
부부의 연으로 맺어졌다는 이 두 진지하고 열정적인 라틴 아티스트의 공연은 그 둘 다가 매우 인상적이었다.

그 순간만큼에는 집중해서 자신을 다 쏟아주는 저런 모습이 내가 공연 예술가들에게
그리고 내가 내 자신에게 바라는 삶의 이상이 아닐지.

현란한 조명과 값 비싼 무대 셋팅, 가득히 포진한 세션맨들 없이도
가슴 가득 꽉 채워졌던 아름다웠던 무대.

지난 번 바비 맥퍼린 공연 보러 예술의 전당에 갔을 때
커다란 모자에 촌스런 멕시코 풍의 의상을 입은 이 두 사람의 홍보 전단을 보고 좀 웃기다 했는데

정작 기대하고 돈 많이 들여 봤던 바비 맥퍼린의 공연에선 실망이란 걸 해 버리고
의상과 고색 창연한 홍보 카피만으로 섣불리 유치할 것 같다고 제껴버린 이 공연을
그로부터 한 달도 더 지난 이 시점에
아리랑 TV라는 백 만년에 한 번 틀어 볼까 말까한 채널에서 더 이상 우연일 수 없을 만큼 우연히 만나
이렇게 감동받아 버리게 될 줄 누가 알았겠냐고.

인연이란...참.

내일 월요일 오후 1시에 아리랑 TV 재방송, 가능하진 않지만 다시 보고 싶다.
